Hillcrest and Crescent

The humidity driven exasperation of our emotional core
Such a tragic month, it would have to be filled with violent storms
On the corner of Hillcrest and Crescent...
There's this little kid who just wanted to have a catch
Runnin' around dressed like a soldier acting like a general
Orchestrating the day's activities in the side yard
That promise of ice cream, no one was more deserving
Always the life of the party, but never bigger than the party
infectious vibrance laced with truth -- he got expression
You knew him and you were accepted as part of his family
Years, distance, age, nothing erased that bond
Maybe he's just hiding under the porch, or in the garage
I'll drive up the hill and take a look
