minor mishap

it was the same day, today
yet different in every way
watching the sunlight slowly fray
i turned and i turned, gently away
the coffee left the same stains
the aroma masked the same pains
but my heart beats refrained
i waited and i waited, silently
trying to shake this sudden disdain
the rut i had found myself in
so i closed my eyes and listened
that's right, i listened
to tenor saxophone emissions
they always seem to breach
the unkempt wall of fear
that surrounds my destination
curing this most lonely of conditions
