The Last Act

Chewed up and spit out...
Wasted existence, spread across endless nights
Then, daybreak spoke to us in shiny metallic, blades of steel
Thin needles piercing our skulls, a vice wheel spun
That's it, short, simple, a quite crushing turn of events

Don't you see that the race won't end the way you want it to?
Don't you care that your spoils will lose their innocence, their beauty?
Don't forget that you will be asked to turn over everything at the gates!

Half gnawed, I made it out of the wolves den
Just in time, dinner was about to be served
I rested on the side of the road asking for my creator's compassion
Cars raced by, as the show continued...
Yeah it changed a little, a couple of characters were asked to leave
But the production continued, there was money to be made.

As the curtain fell...
The producer peered out into the darkness
The crowd of crazed fans had all gone in the second act
All that was left were a couple of lonely souls,
a dark quiet place, to rest, and keep warm.

We should be careful what we ask for.
